The roster.
Film a few swings, get one thing to work on. Every player keeps a history, so next time the advice picks up where you left off.
How to film it thirty seconds of setup buys a much better read
- Stand on the open side — where you can see the hitter's chest and number, square to them, about 15 ft away.
- Phone at belt height, held still — lean it on a bucket or the fence. A moving camera reads as a moving hitter.
- Landscape, whole body in frame, head to feet, with room in front for the stride.
- Slo-mo if the phone has it. 60 fps or better sharpens every timing number. 30 fps still works.
- One swing per clip, a second or two on each end. Four to six swings makes a session worth trusting.

History
Trend
Only what has actually moved. Oldest session on the left, and higher means closer to where it wants to be.
Used to recognise them when you film without picking a player first. Without it, only build is available to go on.
What the swing gets measured against. A ten-year-old is not held to a thirteen-year-old's numbers — separation most of all, which mostly turns up on its own at twelve. Leave it blank and Majors is assumed.
Kit sizes, so handing out uniforms does not mean finding the sheet again. Nothing measures anything from these.
Visible to you alone. Your assistant coaches cannot read this.

Today's swings.
Four to six swings gives a reading worth trusting. One swing is mostly noise.
Who was that?
Line up the clip.
Scrub to just before the load and set the start. Then just after the finish and set the end. A tight clip reads faster and cleaner.
Mechanics change with what is coming at them. Tagging it keeps the history comparing like with like. Dry is a swing with no ball at all — cuts in front of a mirror or in the yard.
Reading it.
Warming up…
The first run downloads the pose model, about 9 MB. After that it is cached.

The measurements
| What | Reading | Wants to be | Call |
|---|
Give them one cue, not four. Lead with what looked good — it buys the attention for the fix. Five to ten minutes on the drill beats thirty minutes of swings, and expect the change to look worse before it looks better. If anything hurts, stop: this reads mechanics, not arms and joints.
The play.
One clip, three books. The pitch goes to the pitcher's count, the swing to the batter's history, the ball in play to the fielder's chart.
—
The zone's height is measured off the batter's own body, which is what the rule says. Its width is estimated from his shoulders, because nothing here can see home plate — and from the open side there is no width at all. Whatever the guess says, you are the umpire.
The mound.
Who can pitch today and how many. The rest table and the daily maximum are Regulation VI, which your league already runs on. Everything marked Pitch Smart is a recommendation, and it says so.
Today
This is the only question in the app a model cannot answer. Adolescents who ended up needing elbow or shoulder surgery were thirty-six times more likely to have routinely pitched with a tired arm — so it is worth asking even when the count looks fine.
The rules this uses Regulation VI, and what Pitch Smart adds
The chart.
Four taps a ball in play. No video, and no model — fielding is too reactive for a phone to read honestly. What this gets you instead is which errors are gloves, which are throws and which are decisions, because those are three different problems with three different fixes.
